One less drive in

Another piece of history has been shut down leaving only memories and nostalgia. This drive in closed for the last time at the end of last summer due to a large chain buy out of the local theatres. It was odd being in there with everything wrapped and still set up as if they were ready to open again for the new season. Although everything looks pristine, just one winter has already begun taking it's toll with some water leakage and ceiling tiles falling. One of my best memories of this drive in was going to see the original Star Wars in 1977 with my dad...he fell asleep within the first 20 minutes, but I'll never forget that he actually took the time to take me.

Awesome. I f-ing love drive-ins. I've been in a bunch of them down here in the south, but all of them have been long closed and are seriously decaying. It's great seeing one in such good condition.

Excellent photos!

* Update: Upon review, your photos of this location are mostly all better than mine. I'm resentful and slightly jealous. *

Drive ins were great! Bring all the food you want and watch two movies while the admission price was fair. Sometimes it would be a set price for as many people as you could fit into your car.

Today it's $8.00 for a bag of popped corn kernals and $6 for a pop to be watched in a theatre with sticky floors, people who won't stop talking and someone kicking your chair.

It's a shame that Cineplex shut that drive-in down, but at least there was some effort put in to preserve what is there. Great pics! Hopefully it will re-open under new ownership sooner than later.
