Billy can back me up on this one. I think two things were happening: 1. They were extremely bored. 2. They were searching for others on the grounds. I couldn't believe it either, and I know it sounds ridiculous. Extreme overkill, but the truth nonetheless. Doesn't matter, really. The squad cars were enough overkill in my opinion. I did a bit of research, and it does take quite a penny to get those copters in the air, so I think it was a huge waste, especially since our story was backed up by the guys on the site. I think without having talked to them we would have been in much deeper shit. Although, I agree...reading that it sounds like a crock of shit. I tells the truth, I do.

I collect dried white hobo poops. Extra points if drug-related paraphernalia is crusted into the poops.

Found a box of bullets and a case of cold beer once. It was clearly new (and cold - was sweating) so I promptly alerted the authorities and made sure that it was disposed of properly... But I'm real good at finding graffiti kids paint stashes and bum stashes.... I think you should leave most items, I dont care so much about moving items around but setting up shots really rubs me the wrong way >.> as for taking items that all depends on the situation, is the building being demoed? Then sure, take the coke machine and refurbish it, if thats what you do... its basically trash otherwise... But you better not touch that calander with the mad dog 20/20, and cigarettes make everything cool adds from the 70's in the foremans office. If there isnt any sorta threat to it... That being said I'm all about preserving history what ever it may be... so I am guilty of trying to save a few flyers from certain destruction... but im also about preserving my arrest record so you also got to be real careful if you decide to take something cause it can land you in a real deep hole

Posted by PorkyMcCaw Take only pictures and leave only footprints has always been my rule. If you take stuff it degrades the experience for future explorers and can put you in legal trouble for actually stealing which is often worse than trespassing by itself.

I often take this stance when exploring a spot, but I've made one exception. After climbing three stories across wooden planks, climbing out of a window and onto a roof, I found a key, inside a tiny little rusted box. I took it with me. Not sure why. It was really a strange place for it and if I learned anything from video games, you take the keys with you. Other than that, I wanted to take a shipping manuscript but left it because it was such a cool find for me that I knew it'd be a cool find for anybody else who went. Plus, if I leave things like that there, it adds more authenticity to a site, and you can feel the human presence that was once there.

One of the reasons why I don't take stuff is that I can't think of any use for anything I've encountered during my explorations. I have seen other people's "collections", always gathering dust in the back of the garage or in the basement. I don't have space for any additional crap.

I'm not against taking something, but I myself haven't yet. I just haven't come across anything that strikes me as worthy. If I came across a cool old medical textbook or a pair of keys or something I might grab it. I don't believe in destroying anything, but if it's something of use and value, and it's just sitting there left to rot... plus it's kind of fun to think of it as dungeon loot. My friend's taken an old exit sign, if that counts.

Thanks to the kindness of the shaggy wunderkind Byberrian Fanman, I was able to procure the last standing Byberry sign. He had come across it buried deep within a dense thicket of briars, thorns, poison ivy and stickers. I donned my camo and heavy gloves, had six cold cans of fortitude and grabbed my hacksaw for a late-night mission under the cover of darkness. This was to be mine at all costs. After being ripped, torn, poked, scratched, prodded and generally molested by the surrounding jungle of nastiness, I was able to cut the rusted bolts with the hacksaw and carry it off.

Posted by Radical_Ed I figured that if any object would bring some ghosts to my ass, it'd be that. So far no luck. What the fuck's a man gotta do to party with the dead?

Step 1: Go to Paris Step 2: Locate & Enter Catacombs Step 3: Take Skull Step 4: Post about it like a moron on UER Step 5: Stick dick into holes of skull (Preferably the eyeball socket, but any hole will do) Step 6: Post about it like an even bigger moron (With an average sized dick) On 4chan Step 6: ??? Step 7: Party with Dead. Aka, Profit.

> or something you collect? You mean, steal? As in, take without approval? Thievery? Looting? Nope. That is stealing. That is wrong. My parents taught me that. Not done here. Others should not either, regardless of 'it was being thrown out', 'it was abandoned', 'it was going to get demolished, it is still stealing and always will be. People have been known to go to jail for theft. Neko.

I think that stealing is wrong in almost every situation, except when something perfectly good is going to be thrown away or demolished. It's a win-win: you have something for free, and it saves natural resources and labour. Throwing stuff away so easily is way more criminal in my opinion, while even governments do it on a huge scale. I'm the guy that fixes something 3 times with duct tape before even considering buying a new one.

The only 2 things that I've taken are 2 business cards from an abandoned rehab clinic. There were a lot of them scattered around some of the buildings, so I figured that no one would miss one of each of them. I've also been eyeing the curtains that are still in the windows of the buildings of a certain abandoned hospital. If anyone wishes to know, my plan is to use the curtains for a quilt (after washing them a few times). Better to reuse them instead of letting them get eaten by who-knows-what before they eventually end up being thrown away.

I found a really cool bando nearby its full of cool old stuff and I would like to know if its Ok to take cool old stuff. The question is do the urbexerz get permission before stealing stuff, what is the proper protocol? I tried telling them Im a poor college student majoring in math and need more stuff to count but they didn't believe me! I tried telling them it was going to be bulldozed and Im only interested in preserving cool stuff, that didn't work either. 1.

Pretty sure he's still living in A-town, PA. Is a mechanic at an independent v dub shop, and doesn't really explore much anymore. I used to hang out with him pretty regular, but haven't really talked to him much since moving away. He was at the razing of Bethlehem steel though!
