Does anyone collect specific found items In abandonedments ?

Does anyone collect specific items recovered from abandonedments? Like a small souvenir or something you collect?

Take only pictures and leave only footprints has always been my rule. If you take stuff it degrades the experience for future explorers and can put you in legal trouble for actually stealing which is often worse than trespassing by itself.

I would never condone stealing a large item like furniture or decorations - but small little tokens I feel won't be missed that much.

All in all - I've been known to pocket a key or two. Skeleton Keys are my favorite. But I've only ever taken anything from a location with the demolition fence already up.

I have the drain cover from the floor under the body table in the autopsy theater at Byberry. It's under my bed as a "good luck" charm.

It's the one in this archival photo, bottom right. I wonder how many gallons of human goo flowed through that? Maybe I should lick it.

There is no such thing as 'collecting' if you do not have permission to be there. It becomes at the least theft and the most burglary. Don't be a douche and eff it up for every one else. I think there was a thread that was archived I read last year about an ex-member here stealing from abandoned mental institutions back East and selling items on E-Bay. I believe (I may be wrong, correct me if I am) he ended up being arrested and going to court over this type of behavior.

I figured that if any object would bring some ghosts to my ass, it'd be that. So far no luck. What the fuck's a man gotta do to party with the dead?

I collect mud. Well...my shoes collect mud. So therefore I unintentionally collect mud.

He's a real likable guy. Apparently the most liked on UER! Doesn't surprise me.

No guys, you can never take ANYTHING. Stamp out your boots before you leave so you don't accidentally take some lead paint and asbestos with you. That would ruin the experience for others!

Lol you guys are so funny with your "ethics" sometimes. The coolest small thing I've ever found were some 1960's Theater tickets.

Doin' it right. I don't even go in abandonements because I don't want to disturb the pristine beauty.

I got this from Byberry a long, long time ago. I was in my teens and rode by the active part on my bmx bike. An attendant was smoking a cigarette and left the door propped open with a cart of fresh laundry. She disappeared into the building so I rode up and stole it from the top of the cart. Took 5 seconds. I used to use it at the swim-club my parents were members of for a few years and then it sat in a closet for 20 years before I even remembered I still had it.
I guess you could say I didn't actually take it from an abandonment because there were still patients there until 1990.
