Abandoned High School in VA

I had seen some photos online of a local high school that had been abandoned for quite some time. I was fascinated by the size of the building and all the artifacts that had been left behind so I made it a personal goal to find the location. After some research and biking around some sketchy areas I found it! I biked around the building and found my P.O.E. I went home and immediately made plans with one of my friends to go back the following morning.

This is the main office. It has been stripped of almost everything and all the glass windows have been shattered.

We continued onwards and were surprised to find a graduating student!

Looking into a classroom

Looking out of the classroom into the courtyard. Notice the tire tracks (this is important later)

Looking down the hallway at some lockers

What the hell is this doing here??

All the bathrooms we saw were missing pipes and had been trashed

When we saw this sign we knew why there was an empty shotgun cartridge box. I remember seeing articles online saying that the police had previously trained there but I thought it had been years.

A little after these photos were taken my friend noticed a police officer watching the building. We thought we were busted but by the time we found our way back to our P.O.E. he had pulled away to the other side of the building. We got the hell out of there and I haven’t been back inside since. I did some more research and found out that the police still actively use the building for training drills. Another explorer recently told me that he saw 16 cop cars outside the building the same week I was inside.

Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the Gym or the Cafeteria. This really bums me out because the pictures I have seen are really cool. I would say this building is still accessible but with very high risk. I have driven past the building several times since I went inside and there is usually a cop chilling in the parking lot.

P.S. Sorry about the quality! These were taken with my phone a couple of months before I had a nice camera.

haha, pretty cool you got in/out. That's not the one I thought they normally used for training. Which, makes me wonder if they're still using the other one, or if it's potentially open now.......

Nice! I like to think when the timing works like that and you dodge law enforcement, That it was truly meant to be! Now just to get back to the cafeteria & gym!

HAH! But yeah I dodged a serious bullet. They have been using this building for about a year now so I could have easily been caught if I decided to go in during the week.

I'm gonna scope the other one out this week. I'll let you know what it looks like!

Nice find. Do you think the police use that graduate cut-out for their training? Like in the Men in Black training sequence when Will Smith doesn't fire at all the alien cut-outs.

It was great while I was in there! I kept getting so excited that I'd go way ahead of my friend who was taking pictures lol

It's very possible but I've seen pictures from 2011 and the cut-outs are still placed where they were back then. One of my friends knows someone in the State Police so I'm gonna see if he can get some more info on how/when the location is used

Looks like a cool place!
There's an old school, part of a larger complex up here in Northern VA, that is also used for police fire/rescue training.
The school building had an obstacle course set up through out the building. I'll try to post some pictures.

Is it accessible? This building still is but I'm not sure how often the police use it

it is, but there is a patrol that drives around every so often.
Plus there may be training going on.

Got any pics from the inside? I'm mostly scared to go back to this school cause with my luck they'd do a training drill while I was inside

Here are a few pictures inside the school. As far as I could tell, they didn't use any live ammo. The casings I did find were blanks.

^Damn those are awesome. I found ammo casings at the HS I posted and a bunch of areas were sealed off with metal grates
