Rookie Post From Maryland [picture heavy]
< on 3/16/2014 6:33 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
So a friend and I went exploring around Maryland this weekend, and found a couple interesting places. This is my first post so I'm going to try to only post the very best of the pictures so I don't post too many- any other guidance would be great!

note: a lot of these pictures weren't taken by me, but by the friend I was traveling with, and she's given me permission to post them.

First (12 pictures): an old empty mill in my town that we happened upon- one of our best finds!

Second (12 pictures): An old Inn that was build in the mid 1800's but was an incredibly popular restaurant / event venue in the 1970's. It used to have exotic animals in cages all around the outside and was a huge beautiful ballroom of a place. Turns out that it has a few more floors than we thought, one floor of which looks like it used to be an apartment.

I've got a couple more places that we took pictures of (a handful of abandoned houses, old schoolhouses, etc.) but I'm a little worried that this post is already overkill lol.

Feedback much appreciated!

Not too bad, man! #23 was pretty sweet.

As far as feedback, I would suggest a tripod and leveling out a lot of your shots. If you can get everything leveled and looking right then you can start working on exposures and other fun stuff with your camera.

Keep them coming & welcome to UER!

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.

Welcome to UER! Maryland has some pretty good stuff to explore if you know where to look. Seems like you're already off to a great start.

The record is a bit hard to read because I had to downsize the pictures, but it's "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big" by Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme

lol, ironic! welcome to the UER.
Nice stuff - not much tagging, but sure is trashed. If MD was a carry state, I think you could shoot vandals and scrappers.

by the way, you have any history on either site (wondering what kind of mill)?

Is all the equipment gone from the mill? Usually is

lol, I was goofing around with my cam one day, and found it has a built in leveler . . . who knew?! (guess it's a guy thing and not reading manuals - I've since gone thru the manual, thought still not closely).

Very good job! I might suggest that, in addition to what Send4Help offered, that you focus on specific objects every once and a while. A little something special amidst chaos.

And don't forget: there's a two picture minimum for lonely chairs, destroyed toilets, and tasteful nudes.

Had to scroll back thru and your right - not one chair or toilet. Usually they're tossed out in the middle of the floor and unavoidable. Unique sites!

DiNardo, don't worry about the latter, I've only one partial nude post, and they haven't pulled full member status yet! (actually, they'd prob pull it if I DID post more)

The vines in 23. are AMAZING! Something about the pattern of the floor against the lines of the vines.
