While I'm happy to see new construction on the site dedicated to mental health, this building is simply replacing the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health which will close once this place gets up and running. The result is no new net mental health beds.

Rest in peace, my pal Mowgli - the best dog there ever was.

I agree. I've read from various reports that they're only gaining 11 beds. The facility's location also takes people away from a lot of community and peer resources available in downtown Van. Sad.

Hopefully more of us can preserve some of the older buildings through pics too before they also get torn down.
