After a long period of inactivity on UER, but not from exploring... Long abandoned Birmingham Red Ore mine. These are the first pictures from inside that I am aware of. The only tracks we found in the 60 year undisturbed mud were raccoon or similar animal tracks. If we had explored deeper, would we have found a skeleton of a trapped animal? DANGER : Bad air, cave ins. Enjoy.

great set, great location! I've been interested in the mines of AL, TN, and GA for a while... Just a matter of finding them, and having the equipment to do it safely!

Great shots. Its nice to see something different.

OMG!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

Relatively. See all those chunks of rock on the floor? Those fell from the ceiling over the last 80 years. I wouldn't go poking at the ceiling with a pick, but I am fairly confident that the risk of a rock falling on my head is pretty low.

I had to dig this post out, blow the dust off, and bump it to the top. These are seriously some great mine pics. GREAT lighting. Portal is beautiful, and love how the ore cart tracks are banked. While I am certain that wasn't intentional, it makes it look like coaster tracks. Just beautiful!
