I took down my videos
< on 2/14/2014 11:02 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
I'd just like to let everybody know that I've removed all Urban Exploration related content from my YouTube channel. After reviewing them a little bit, I just didn't really think that they were all that great, and honestly, I'm really starting to doubt whether posting videos of my friends exploring is a good idea in the first place. I also don't want all this evidence out there in the case that I get arrested.

I'll still post pictures that I take on here, and contribute to discussions in the forums, but I'm done with videos for now.

Sorry to hear that... I mainly shoot videos and there has always been a huge debate on UER regarding videographers and their work. When I first signed up and posted my first video I received PM's saying I should take it down because the people here don't take kindly to videos. I kept it up and pushed through all of that, and still shoot videos and don't think twice about it.

Video work is a blast and fun to always improve on your skills. You should be fine if you aren't filming your friends smashing windows, breaking locks, etc. Same with photography... of course there are some cases where owners have seen pictures and threatened to prosecute some people online... but chances are minimal and these cases are few and far between. If you are that worried then don't actually show faces. If someone wanted to prosecute they'd have a hell of a time actually proving who shot the video, when it was filmed, where it was; and is all of that trouble worth it over a trespassing charge? Meh. I say keep shooting and improve on your styles and techniques! It's been fun to see some more videographers coming around here as of lately!

Just do it man! Don't let other people stop you! Just because some guy on here says its not a good idea doesn't mean is! I say keep doing it.

I do just as much video, if not more than photos.

No one on any website has ever asked me to take anything down.

I know that it's not that big of a deal, but I just don't have as much fun exploring when I'm looking through a camera the whole time. Also, my parents recently found my YouTube channel and they said that they would stop sending me money and helping me pay got college if I didn't take them down. They'll probably forget about it in a month or two, but for now, I'm not going to be posting stuff with my parents snooping around my YouTube channel.

I'll probably start uploading videos again in the future, maybe after I make a new YouTube channel, and when I have the money to buy better equipment, but for now all I have is the Sony Hanydycam that I got for my fourteenth birthday.

Change how you shoot your videos… walkthroughs are mostly boring, repetitive, and amateur for the most part. Use your video camera like you would taking photos. Pull it out when you see cool things… get some fluid motions going… get some time lapses, pans, tilts, whatever. Makes some short films if you want; the sky really is the limit with video work, man.

Make a new Youtube so your parents don't find it and keep at it!

Exactly how I feel. When I explore unplugging from tech is part of the shebang.

Just be 100% anon. It's not that hard, just don't talk in the videos or show faces, as well as make a new channel that is not traceable
to your email or any other social media and you're good.

This is one of the worst pieces of advice I've ever read relating to this, did you even read the thread?
