WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND YOUR USERNAME?
< on 12/13/2013 1:01 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
Not sure if there is a thread like this on this forum, but some of your names are creative and sound mysterious. Is there a significant reason to your UER designation?

I will get the ball rolling:
My username is "A-Z" as some of you call me... "A" is the first letter of my first name, and "Z" is for the last letter in my last name (also my first name). "Explorations" is to describe what we all love to do.

Good morning to you as well, thank you for the good wishes.

My username is just a pseudonym I like to use for a few things, pretty much no other story than that I like the sound of the name.

MutantMandias

A Post-Apocalyptic Derangement

I met a traveller from a radioactive land

Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of duralloy

Stand in the wasteland. Near them, in the slag,

Half melted, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled tentacles, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its engineer well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The claw that mocked them, and the dual-heart that fed;

And on the pedestal these words appear:

\"My name is MutantMandias, padishah of domars:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!\"

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal ruin, boundless and bare

The lone and glassy slag stretches far away.

mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias

mutantMandias is something more than human, more than a computer. mutantMandias is a murderously intelligent, sensually self-programmed, non-being

I've always been fascinated with Sumarian Culture, as it is the oldest cultural group of humans we are aware of, in addition to having the first written language that we know of. Inanna is one of the early and most well known Sumarian goddesses, and is the goddess of warfare, fertility, and love.

Back in 94 when I first went online, picked a name that was the opposite of who I am in real life. Yoko Ono, being a small crazy Japanese woman, came to mind. Someone online later shortened it to Yokes and it stuck.

it's Grace!

Great stories, everyone. Thanks!

Keep them coming. Hoping that some users with numbers in their names explain the stories behind that.

I have a thirst for knowledge. I live it, I eat it, I absorb it. Documentaries, wiki articles, books, etc. I absolutely hate it when I purchase something electronic and don't know how to use it. I want to go from opening the box to full knowledge of it's operation. I like to watch old moves from the 70's and 80's and am fascinated with life as it 'used to be' (just last week I watched Blackout, the movie and Escape from New York not long before that).

I don't consider myself a geek, just highly intelligent and a thirst for knowledge (and Rickard's Red beer). With endless capacity for learning it seems like such a waste to just kill time staring into a cell phone when you could be educating yourself.

(and 99% because I couldn't think of a single [polite] name in the world to accurately describe my persona so I gave up)

Around 1999 I bought kenfager.com when I was in high school. The "dotcom" part became natural for people and it stuck.

My name's Ed and when I was in 10th grade, back in 1983 a group of my friends gave me the nickname because, well, I'm a fuckin' radical dude. They're all still my friends and they still call me "Radical Ed". It has absolutely nothing to do with the Cowboy Bebop character and predates that cartoon by fifteen years. I have it painted on an Iron Maiden denim vest I wore in high school when I could fit into a men's small.
