March Vehical Purchase
< on 12/1/2013 4:47 AM >

If everything works out, I am planning on getting a brand new whip in March/April. I have narrowed it down to these four options:

Sonota 2.0T Limited Auto With Nav
Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Limited
GMC Terrain
Chevy Equinox

What do you all think of them. Is there something else I may want to consider in the same price range?

No to all of them? Then which one would you recommend?

This, I wouldn't exactly describe any of those cars as a 'whip'

Brand new? Small SUV? Wrangler.

Although I don't recommend you purchase a brand new car to begin with.

Also Subaru.

I think he is thinking new, I would much rather buy a 1-2 year old car and let the first fool deal with the ridiculous depreciation of buying new.

Equinox/Terrain are having lots of issues with the high pressure fuel pump coming apart and running pieces of metal through the engine.

And like Jeepdave said- what about Subaru?

i hope you choke on your strudel and the ambulance that is taking you to a hospital is GMC/Chevrolet chassis, monkeyboy.

first off, it's spelled "vehicle"
second of all, the cars that you are thinking of purchasing suck and are not 'whips'. What are you? Gangsta? You hard? A hard as fuck gangsta muthafucka does not drive a Sonata, a Santa Fe, Terrain or Equinox, sweechuckles.

if you absolutely positively must have a fucking import, at least buy a fucking Subaru. Tough as fuck, go anywhere, a little expensive to fix, but fuck it anyway. Sure you get no gangsta hardness points, but la-di-da, you'll fit in at the parking lot of L.L. Bean.

They're still the ultimate lesbian car, but they're great...

(Although we seem to be getting a lot of Foresters traded in on Tiguans)

Early ones are fucking scary- the later models ('06 and up) have been decent. An absolute bitch to work on, but we haven't seen a lot of problems with them.

Thank you Brandi for the tip off on the fuel pumps on the Equinox/Terrain, I wasn't aware of that. The reason why I go new is because I do extreme high millage to the point where I have rolled the odometer over on vehicles before due to millage. That way I know 100% what has and has not been done to them. When I am done with a vehicle it either goes to somebody who wants a project car to rebuild or the junk yard. So depreciation is really of no consequence to me. I pay cash, so it gives me some negotiation room. I will give Wrangler and Subaru a look, as I had not thought of them. I have ruled out Nissan as all of the ones I looked at that I liked had a CVT transmission and that is a poison pill for me. I won't own a vehicle with one at this point in time. I have read and herd nothing but terrible things about the technology. I won't do anything with a timing belt either. It has to be a timing chain. I would prefer to have a vehicle with a transmission dip stick, but those are getting harder to find these days by everything I looked at.

If you drive that much, get a diesel. And sadly, not much of anything comes with a tranny dipstick any more.

Isn't that why you want one?

If the OP is looking for an SUV, I agree with Dave, but I will up it and say a Wrangler Unlimited.
