80% alone. 20% with others.

If I'm with others, it's one or two from the same small (about a dozen of us that are local to my area) group of explorers for about 18% of that 20% of time.

There are some urban areas I won't do alone.

I find that hard to believe... you're being modest.
You did that shithole bum's nest building in downtown Midland were Peptic Ulcer punched a bum, alone.

I think I met that bum. He was very polite to me and stayed on his side of the room (unspoken agreement).

Dang, I forgot about that story with Peptic and the bum until you mentioned it!
I miss Peptic!

Well you're a cool cookie...
Peptic may have overreacted.
I think Peptic felt cut off but the guy may have had no ill intent.

Newbies take notice...

I've done probably 90% of my stuff alone but thats because I'm a loner and y one exploring buddy lives 900 miles away now. We started off doing quarries and new construction high-rises but I did a solo road trip that had me all over the place. I still get the heeby jeebies sometimes. When I was in the Peppermint Power plant over in Germany I was super paranoid about getting trapped by security like the Proper People did. It didn't help that there were a couple guys riding on their bikes and it had just rained so the water droplets sounded a lot like light footsteps all over the place. I spent more time doing quick rounds out the windows than taking photos.

This is so true! I’ve lost count of the times I’ve sketched myself out because rain can sound almost indistinguishable from footfall in certain situations. I usually know what it is now, but it’s a trip when you hear that the for first time.

Most times you'll hear voices or smell cigs first.
Don't dime yourself out window peeking; assume someone is out there.
Best to stand to the frame sides, better if deeper in the room than near the frame... display a minimum profile.
Make a habit of taking visual checks from good vantage points that overlook common entry routes when in large complexes.
Use caution crossing open spaces, avoid when possible.
Same-same about silhouetting yourself on high points; high risk.
Avoid talking, cell off, cigs and maintain noise discipline.
Spot good hiding spots as you go to bed down in if things go hot.
Dress so you can hide; avoid blue denim and unnatural colors that stand out.

Smell them, hear them, see them first... having to drop on them gives you more time to think and more options.
And if it's little ghost hunters... spook em proper

I explore alone most of the time.

When not, it's usually with like...one consistent exploring buddy, who has now moved across the country.

I’m actually surprised by the replies in this thread. I figured most people explored with others exclusively. Personally, I go to local places with pretty open infrastructure alone but only really in the day time. I know my area is pretty safe so I’m never too worried about. Somewhere I’m not familiar with, however, I always go with a buddy or two. I think too much can go wrong and it’s always good to have company in bad situations.

Exploring alone is always easier and more peaceful because you minimize the risk of getting caught and everything is all up to you. I like exploring with people but sometimes they're just weight to lug around the whole time.

When possible, I like to explore with one other trusted person. Having someone I implicitly trust to watch my back (while I watch theirs) has been especially useful in several circumstances. That said, a good 70% of my explores have been solo, which I've grown to enjoy for the silence and freedom offered.

I have explored abandoned structures alone, but I would rather explore with others for the safety factors.

I explore active structures alone and with others. I like to practice amateur penetration testing with bypass methods.

I've never explored alone...for various reasons I will not mention due to being humiliated in a public thread.
