NaNoWriMo?

Since Camp NaNoWriMo starts in a few days, I was wondering if anyone has either done or is planning on participating in NaNoWriMo (in November) or either of its camps (in the spring and the summer).

I wrote a fairy tale for last year's NaNoWriMo that I'm still working on. I'm writing it by hand because my laptop charger has been broken since late October of last year and I didn't want to spend time on the home computer when other people needed it for more important things.

My camp novel was inspired by Nox Arcana's album Blackthorn Asylum. The novel is about a guy who gets sent to a mental hospital after killing someone and, long story short, he starts to go insane and becomes extremely violent after he begins to see "demons". I may post part of it online somewhere.

Sounds like a cool story.

I have no time to do a writing camp. Wish i did. lol.

Please do post something! I would love to read it.

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.
"It's ok Officer, I watch a lot of cop shows on tv, so i am practically one of you guys." - sadly, that didn't work.

Thanks!

You should try it sometimes!

I might post an excerpt from it.

Editing it will be a pain in the neck when I'm done writing it since it takes place at a mental hospital that is now abandoned, so I'll have to figure out what time period it will take place in. For now, the hospital's real name is being used and the actual names of the buildings (some of which have been knocked down) are being used, so that might be a problem if I decide to post an excerpt here.

Hey fellow writers I'm Rich. I've never been to a writing camp, but I hear they are great for new and aspiring writers. I've never written a novel either, but I do write zines on many different topics. 20 years ago I published a cookbook for stoners called "The Blind Munchies." I advertised it in High Times magazine for a couple years and it did alright. I am thinking of updating it now that I'm older and wiser and not so stoned (no I don't smoke anymore, ha). Anyway, I love research and writing about "how to do it" topics. D.I.Y everything is my motto, it's a pretty fun niche group to be apart of. Zinesters are a loyal bunch of writers, publishers and promoters, so ask me about it and I'll get you to the right places.

Nice meeting you all here.

Cheers,

VM
