Well, the 2017cc tired old engine I picked up that is currently grossly undercarbed tops out at what I estimate to be ~95 on flat ground.
And It takes this long to go from 80 to that top speed.

wow, its so much more fun to go fast in a slow car than in a fast car.

It really is. This bug is stock ride height too. there's soooo much air going under that car at that speed.......so much. It has cancer and I have decided that going 120mph is on its bucket list. as well as many other speed and handling wishes that are fully and entirely the cars, not mine.

As John Muir said... "I have gone 150 mph in a Porsche and 90 mph in a Beetle. I felt much safer in the Porsche."
Beetles tend to want to do wheelies above 90.

Hahaha! Honestly I've never really felt that bad over 90 in my bug. I don't know why, possibly because I put little to no value on my own life, but the front end doesn't feel light enough to tighten my asshole. I'll find that limit when I get more than 34 icts on this engine.

I honestly didn't think a bug could go this fast. My westfalia has trouble reaching 65 mph lol

Allegedly the top speed of a stock 1600 cc Bug is 81 mph according to the owner's manual. I've done 95 mph, and that's according to a GPS, not the speedo. It didn't exactly get up there in 10 seconds though.

110 in a 72 Super Beetle... downhill
it had a weird exhaust and holley 2bbl on it with some head work.
and yes, the nose was 'bouncing' all the way making mid-flight course correction interesting.
some of my fondest high school memories involve that Beetle.

I'm not going to be a cross on the side of the road. I'm going to be a cross on the moon. As long as I only kill myself I'm okay with it. Kind of in a dark place right now anyways. But I know the limits of my car. If I die behind the wheel it will be when I'm driving normally following all the rules and someone blows a stop sign, light, etc.
