After about 6 months of driving my 180k mile mazdaspeed 6 and one final full throttle launch the bottom end shit the bed. Threw a rod (I believe) out of the block and left a nice 100 yard oil spill too its resting place . After a search calling around local salvage yards with absolutely ridiculous prices for a used engine (4-5 thousand dollars!) my newest, nicest car I have ever owned is on ebay for someone to repair/part out. Hopefully I get enough out of it to get a car I will actually want to drive (and my wife approves of). Goodbye mazda

that seems a little odd... from everything I have ever read about the Mazdaspeed models, their powertrains are indestructible. Weird. condolences on your loss.

still... i mean i was awful and evil to my little 2.2L Cavalier and even at over 200,000 miles I'd flog it down a dragstrip with the throttle pinned to the firewall. (granted 135hp is not 200hp, but the car was never intended to race... anywhere) ...and it held together. (well there was the waterpump that let go at 7200 RPM, but that shit happens)

same here i had over 300 000km on a 2.4l sunfire that i beat like it owed me money and what did it in was a water pump, just not worth putting money into it with that mileage
