I'll be taking the written test at the end of the month in California, and then hopefully taking a behind the wheel test sometime in June, I have until midway through July to get this license or I lose my job.
Any tips, pointers, advice or stories y'all would like to share with me would be really helpful. I'm stressing out over this.

I don't have my cdl, but judging by some idiot truckers i encounter it must not be that super hard to get. If all else fails throw the instructor a crispy $100.

i failed my CDL physical back in 2005 which sucked because I had the job with FedEx running tandem trailers from Williston VT to Springfield MA twice a night... i had the truck ready and everything. My goony eyes kept me from getting my license.

Class A,B, or C? Learn your pretrip. Learn the fucking pretrip. If you are getting A's learn to back.

class B, air brakes. my coworkers are telling me to try and get as many endorsements as possible, even though it won't effect my pay grade. good idea bad idea, or should I just focus on getting the learners permit first and foremost?

While not a bad idea I would wait till I needed it due to the cost. Couple hundred bucks.

I'm looking at doing the Oregon Class B CDL because our SAR group might be doing airbrakes on one of our donated rigs....

The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave. |

well I said screw it and only got the class B with air brake endorsement, my work said i wouldn't be getting anything in regards to a pay increase with a hazmat or passenger endorsement and management said I would never need them for anything I do in the city anyways. I'm stoked i passed all three tests on first try, now comes the walk around, pre-trip. in about a month

on your road test, the walk-around and pre-trip are VERY important. You WILL fail if you get it wrong.

Yeah, I'm working with my friend who is a third party tester and he fails people all the time for not being through on the walk around. He likes the fact I break out the penny and checks the tires.
