September 22, Sat. 1956
Dearest Barbara Jane;
Been thinking of you every day + want you to know that I'm still in love with you. I know it seems foolish, but it's true. I've been in love with you from the first day I met you + regardless of what you or I done, I'm still in love with you now. To begin let me know how everything is with you. I wrote Howard George yesterday. Did you recieve my post cards I sent you from New York, Penn, California, so on? About myself princess, I decided to leave California + work here in New York. So I reported for my new job here on Ficher's Island New York. So you can depend on hearing from quite often, that is if you care to. Ficher's Island isn't far from New London. That's why I took this job, so when I get the chance I can visit you + Howard George. "Oh!" yes, befor I forget princess I havn't forgotten the watch you wanted. But you see I work 6 days a week. Matter of fact honey, I havn't had a day off yet since Sept. 11th. I work from 6. a.m. to 8:30 p.m. I get paid on the 15th + last day of each month. So let me know what you can have + starting Oct. I can send you what you want each month. So when you answer this letter (I'll wait till I hear from you) sit your pretty little self down + write me soon. I got a whole week off with pay either Christmas or New Years. Soon as I find out I'll let you know because I'm going to visit you + Howard George. I sent him some post cards + he really liked them. It's beautiful here on the Island honey, it's 12 miles long + 1 1/2 miles wide. It can only be reached by plane or boat. Today is beautiful here. Well honey, that's it for now till I hear from you. Write me soon. My regards to everyone. For me honey, keep your chin up + keep that beautiful Irish Twinkle in your beautiful Irish eyes. All my love, hugs + kisses to you always.

Yeah, it's nice to get a sense of personality just from reading this letter. I found another one from him sent a few weeks later as well. Interesting stuff for sure!

That letter was a cool addition. Would be interesting to locate the man or the woman and send the letter to them.

Wow thats so cool. I went to an abandoned asylum and found a drawing and letter from a little girl who had been admitted. Cool find but things like it make me somewhat sad. Like did she get out? I ask a lot of questions to myself when I see that
