New York entry by keti 6/29/2004 6:09 PM
| The day after we went to montreal, we were driving around upstate NY looking for the Ganikeh reservation (cheap cigarettes!), and stopped to ask a woman for directions. As she was talking, Matt noticed a building on the water behind an old dam. It was beautiful. Amazing. After getting the cheap cigarettes we went right back to check it out. One of the locals gave us a bit of history about it. It was a hydroelectric plant, closed decades ago once the need for hydroelectricity in the town was unnecessary. Getting to the building itself was a pain in the ass (trudging through the river to get to the other side). We didn't end up getting inside. That place was locked up like a prison. But we got some awesome photos, and finally got to do some exploring on our vacation
