I'm a random skinny guy who lives and works in the middle of Nowhere. But because I live out here, the only thing there is to do that's even remotely exciting is to drive 3-4.5 hours on the weekends to explore a variety of Midwestern cities that all happen to be UE-rich: Minneapolis/St. Paul with their insane sandstone tunnels, Kansas City with its enormous underground quarries, Chicago with its large abandonments, and Milwaukee, with its abandoned tanneries, breweries, and chemical factory, to name the most frequently-visited cities. Occasionally, I'll stick around my home state of Ah-Wah to explore an abandoned factory here or there, visit friends, poke around some of the lead mines over by Dubuque, or go hiking up in Wisconsin. This journal was started to share future explorations with the rest of the UE community. Although I typically go exploring every weekend, this may be updated sporatically, or even rarely, depending on how busy things are. Also, since this journal is presumably public, there are certain locations that it's better not to mention to avoid increased security, or worse yet, getting a location closed. We'll start with last weekend's visit to Colorado. Work put me in western Kansas for the week, and I couldn't resist going a little farther to explore one of the gigantic Titan missile bases, and look for gold mines in the hills.
