27 June 2004
entry by Krenta
6/28/2004 1:28 AM

Spent most of the day in bed, reading. The cat spent most of the day snuggling with me, and then stole part of one of my tuna-fish sandwiches. Who'd have thought that aliens liked fish any mayonnaise?

I was planning on changing the newspaper in the cat's toilet, but bending over is simply too painful.

I've been considering entering a photograph in the State Fair art show, but I'm not sure if I want to be associated with such a bourgeois affair, and the beer-swilling idiots who seem to comprise the majority of the fair visitors are hardly likely to appreciate the complex significance of my art. Still, if the judges are able to appreciate the majesty of my work, and haven't been bought off by any of the other entrants, the prize money which would surely be mine would be nice to have. Decisions, decisions...

I would consider the State Fair show to be less bourgeois event and much more proletarian if anything.

There is always a debate with anyone as to which venues are good enough to display one's work. I know someone who does not want to exhibit her paintings in a coffee shop because she fears that when she approaches galleries in the future they will look down on that. I'm a bit torn on the whole thing. I'm still debating approaching some soon to see if they'll show my stuff simply because I'd like to sell some stuff and I have trouble believing that a gallery would refuse to show some of my work because other stuff had been shown elsewhere.

Methinks you missed the sarcasm in that entry, ETMJ. Given that you know me any my views about pretensions of fine art...

Ah well. ;)
