Changing anything on one of those Pontiac grand prix/monte Carlo z34 3.4 dohc engines. Man that thing had power but to do work on it was a nightmare.

You should be rightfully P.O.ed. Their job is to NOT fuck up your car. I can say, though, that if they were looking to have fun driving it around...then the Cruze is a very poor choice for that.
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |

Whats funny is I have always said that GM computers were adaptive... In other words, the harder I beat the car, the better it ran. My Cruze is getting like that... 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears really get its fat ass moving... the caveat to that? the engine wheezes out of boost and cam at around 5300RPM. Now, keep in mind that this is a 1.4L DOHC with a playskool pretend turbo hanging off the side of it.

Gallardo, you need to take the throttlebodies off to access the oil filter housing

Chrysler and that stupid V6 they put in the Breeze/Stratus/Cirrus... you had to literally take the top of the engine off to remove the rear three spark plugs. Why? And let's not forgot that unholy abortion that was the GM 2.3L Quad 4 and 2.4L Twin Cam... that grabastic piece of monkey fuckery. What engineer sat there and said, 'let's build it so it takes 12 fucking hours to change a waterpump!' Fuck yeah! Or the 3.4L DOHC V6... another unholy abortion of an embarassment from GM! You've got to half pull the engine out of the car to change the timing belts!

My dad had a monte Carlo with the 3.4 quad cam that thing was quick, but a pain in the ass to work on that's for sure.

the 3.4L DOHC was a powerful little pile of shit, but it was so indicative of what was WRONG with GM in the early 90's. Instead of designing a clean sheet DOHC V6, the confobulated one out of the venerable 60-degree V. It was heavy and inefficient, especially in the cam drive design. you had a hollow camshaft in the normal space driving the oil pump which was driven by the timing chain off the crank. Then you had an intermediate pulley on the block- cam pulley that drove the cams on either head and that belt was 2.5" wide. The only kudos that I gave GM was actually putting a manual transmission behind the 224hp 6. Automatics were a far more lackadaisical 205hp.

When I lived back in NY, one of coworkers from one of the downstate offices had a Breeze. She was short...4 foot exactly. She could do all the plugs on the car by climbing ontop of the motor and just reaching down the back.

no way... not on one of the cloud cars. the plenum was mounted OVER the plugs. Unless you had a really grippy tentacle, you were taking that bitch apart.
