She got about what it's worth minus the tow charge for crusher bait. Seems more than fair.

I'd pay someone $250 to get one of those things as far away from me as possible.

They were a nice car to scrap because you could drop the subframe, burn the bushings out, and bam- 60 lbs of aluminum.

Pretty sure it was $245 for my rolled pickup and he only towed it three miles to the house, we recouped some of the loss when a junkyard gave us $100 and picked it up for free.

Fair for a car worth nothing more than its weight in scrap. Going to be a good time to be in the scrap business on the East Coast.

Or used car business in the South. They are already sucking up the auctions down here. And sending a lot of "hmmmmmm" cars this way that smell like the sea.

Worked on a few tractors that had "come from down south" after Katrina. Always fun to find pounds of silt sitting in the head.

After seeing that thread, I'd say she got the better end of that deal. It was only worth 600 here with a trans going out. After a flood? She should be thankful they picked it up.

That car is worth nothing more than the value of its materials. In this case, not much more than $250.

My uncle when he was younger used to take in "hurricane cars" after all the hurricanes that hit the east coast that he would buy up from wholesale places. The few of them he told me honestly were perfectly salvageable if you got the time; the thing he did though was replace the wiring harnesses if he knew the wiring was questionable. He sold most of them with a salvage title but the truck he owned before his death in 2009 was from Hurricane Andrew from 1992.

About the same as what it was worth new. Sadly, they charged a lot more.
