opened in 1945 and closed in 1995. Closed for almost twenty years, the facility caught fire in October 2009 and allowed to burn itself out. Inmates at this facility, who served sentences for ordinance and traffic offenses, were routinely assigned to farming, livestock, cannery and dairy operation details. This enabled the detainees to benefit from vocational training and contribute to their sustenance. Be careful if exploring. There's a guard on duty patrolling the perimeter, as well as a car. I was stopped on my way out, and talked my self out playing stupid. Apparently, it's used as a training facility for the academy. 1.

Some great stuff, but did you pull the mannequin's pants down?
|
|
no...they were actually already down! scared the crap out of me when i walked into the room. other shots i didn't include in this set, but i took, were the other mannequin's with plastic toy guns duct-taped to their hands pointing at whoever is coming into the room. I almost crapped my pants! and then laughed at how stupid i must have looked jumping up and yelping at it's sight! but for any urban explorer...that's frightening on all levels (a guy is here, he has a gun, i'm going to jail...etc. lol)

too cool!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

Nice shots. The mannequins are new to me. I need to go back.

these are amazing. I am especially fond of the chair through the window.

I got the chance to visit this prison in April. The timing was funny- there was a rapper shooting a music video, so my friends and I were able to walk around freely and shoot pictures. Loved the rusty old bunkbeds. Heard there are hybrid wolf-dogs who belong to the police academy across the way. Fortunately didn't encounter any.

*hybrid werewolf-dogs, thank you very much. My taxes certainly aren't paying for just any old common hybrid mix.

Im coming to Atlanta in August and Im looking for abandoned places and graffiti. Is this still there? Xan
=X= |

It is kinda crazy to see how much detail has been put into the graffiti here. Most places like this just have a lot of random things painted everywhere. Prision really has some interesting art. It must have been done by some people who really know what they are doing with their artwork. Very cool site to see my favorite pictures would have to be the one with the mannequins.
