I think I saw one (or maybe was an E36) but they're a myth on Autotrader and Craigslist.

Not for the US, but in Europe. A ton of them have been imported to North America privately, however.

Because I like the older body style. And it MUST be a stick, seems easier to find on older ones. I really want a wagon though to haul musical gear and I don't know if you could get such an E30 combination in the US, so maybe an E34. Idk. I'm probably just gonna impulsively buy the first 5 speed BMW I find in my price range so who cares.

I'm with you on this... I've owned at least 10 BMWs, most of them E30s... they're problematic but so much lighter than the E36, and have fewer problems. And rust less.

The E36 kinda drives like a truck in comparison.

The 325e cars were really underrated... the 2.7 liter "eta" engine was basically a diesel engine with spark plugs, but a quick one. I've pushed 2 of them over 500,000 and neither burned oil after that.

See I kind of disagree, I just drove an e30 325is and I thought it was much less refined, and handled kind of poor compaired to the e36. The e36 just felt more solid to drive, but that may be cause its a bit heavier and more complex. The 30 is definitely a more basic car and I wouldn't mind an xi and I think they look killer with a few exterior modifications.

I've owned both, and I've found VW was a far better car than BMW. This goes with my career, too. I've been a mechanic for 11 years and have worked on everything short of a Bugatti or a Lamborghini.

And it's Volkswagen, not Volkswagon.

I'm a tech too, I own a BMW and would never buy another vw. I'm not here to argue but my opinion is there over engineered piles of junk. Water cooled that is, I wouldn't mind an old air cooled transporter though.

Lambos are stupid easy to work on, the hardest thing is aligning the rear deck lid. Its just a fancy audi in the end.
