I stumbled on this today,

Very interesting. I could swear the Queen of Saanich was still in service! http://www.westcoa...ueenofsaanich.html

You should contact Mark Hume with the Globe and mail about this information. He is a great Environmental reporter. That Ferry should have never been allowed there in the first place.

A friend of mine knows a guy who took his kayak over to it. He climbed around inside. Everything is still intact including the White Spot galley. He thinks there is oil and stuff leaking from it. Nobody is admitting ownership so an oil spill is paid by whom? We need to check this out, get some reporters over there.

Just came here to post this. I think an aquatic venture is in order! Saanich got sold back in 2010 IIRC, along with Esquimalt and Tsawassen. Lord knows what she's doing just sitting around Howe Sound.

Anyone have a boat?

Sadly yes, the ferry was sent to Mexico for scrap earlier this month.

Yeah, looks like she'll hit Mexico today or tomorrow. That's okay, we just need a bigger boat to get to it!

If i remember well. It took me 24hrs drive down to Ensenada. 100km south of Tijuana if you really wanna visit her before she goes under the knife. As a perk, Ensenada is also mile 0 for the Baja 1000 off road race.

I have heard the queen of Sidney might also be heading to Mexico. Anyhow, they are in talk about buying it, will see if she goes or sink in the river

Daytime would be better, it's pretty visible from some mega-mansions nearby.
