Another 5:00 am wake up, driving down the highway as the sun rises to shine upon another day, the temperature begins to rise. You fumble with your maps, a wrong turn here, a correct turn there. By mid-day you've seen a half dozen places and you're beginning to feel tired. You wonder why you do this sometimes and ponder the question of will you ever become tired of it? You know better though, the beckon of the open road is always calling. The thrill of the hunt, the beauty of capturing memories from yesterday. The chase of preservation in a world that wants to demolish the past.

This location isn't new, it's been around for a while but we have to take it one kilometre at a time. Thanks for sharing the journey.

Graham House

The residents of this colourful home were Murray and Doris Graham. Doris, married twice, was a widow during her final years living in the home.

By all rights she sounded like the type of woman that you'd want to get to know living in a small town. Doris played the organ every week during church mass, taught others about antiques and served as a judge in local town fairs. Mrs. Graham also enjoyed collecting antique dolls and having weekly teas at her home.

In later years Doris moved out of the home and it became forgotten, except for the land which is still farmed today. Doris passed away on September 9, 2011 at the age of 90 years.

Perfect house, just the way I like them - ugly, big, hidden by years of overgrowth!!

Good stuff

What is with these old houses and their crazy multiple-colour paint jobs? Very odd... Lovely photos though, very well captured.

Another 5:00 am wake up, .... in a world that wants to demolish the past.

I won't quote the entire opening paragraph but DAMN! I have to cut-and-paste that somewhere and keep it. That's about the most succinct and well-said description of my own feelings exploring.

What do you think the story is with all the marks on the door in #5? Family dog scratching to be let out/in for "business"?

#5 Creeps me out. The scratches are probably just from an animal...But what if they're not!

The pink door picture is beautiful, along with all the others.
