One of many reasons I'll never own a GM

I'm the last to defend GM for anything, but around here Fords and Dodges are rotting out just as quickly. Dodge trucks seem to have serious rust-through after about 4 years, ditto with Caravans. And I haven't seen a 1st generation Focus with rocker panels in YEARS. Ditto with GM minivans, the rockers seem to fall out pretty quickly.

The Northeast is just an awful environment in general for car abuse...

Rams seem to be in pretty rough shape around here... There are tons of '07's and '06's with no cab corners left, rot above the wheel arch, etc. The previous generation did the same thing it seems. Thanks to rot, the door skins were flapping in the breeze in 4-5 years.

Yeah, newer Rams are not doing well here either.

The previous generation ('94-'01 ish) were hit and miss, I had a '95 and when sold it last summer, it didn't have ANY rust. However, there was no paint on it thanks to the wonderful primer they used. But then I'll see trucks the same vintage with no fenders, rockers or box sides to speak of.

My Durango was a total rot box, too.

And then there's my mom's '07 GMC half ton which is rotting away like a 70s Toyota.

It's everything around here...Rust isn't a Ford guy, a Chevy guy, or an import guy.

Hardest hit seem to be the Mazdas and Toyotas though. And oddly enough, I've never really noticed much rust on Focuses. (Focii?)

I second that of mazda. I've seen mazda 6's with worse rust than most 15 year old cars.

Which sucks, because I was very close to buying a Mazda Protege5 or a 6 wagon. Their rust issues ended up being the deciding factor.
