I need a hand from some real computer people. I'm trying to help my Dad put together a website for his pilot training class. They would like to be able to post pictures. send messages, maybe a little forum, etc. The biggest thing is that they would like to be able to post their bios. Here is my question. Some of the info in the bios isn't something that just anybody needs access to. Is there a commercially available program that would allow them to have password only access to this site and its info? I can handle little websites, but some you folks certainly have better info on setting up secure type sites. I don't need it to be proof against Unknown or super hackers of that ilk, just so that the general public can't stumble into their bios. I looked on the internet, and the sheer volume of info, plus my lack of knowledge about net security makes this a daunting task. Thanks in advance!
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. | |
Sounds like you should look at some type of forum package. I've used Snitz forums (ASP) and PHP-Nuke forums (PHP) based forums in the past with good results. You can Google each name to see more info about them. Both can be customized to your hearts desire and both can be secured with password based authentication. There also might be some type of web based community site (think wordpress for forums) that would work, although I don't have any experience with one.
