Saw an ad on craigslist that I jumped on, the ad was for '85+ boxes of old car parts in original boxes $165'. The guy only lived 20 minutes or so from me, so I ended up going out to look at them right away, and this is what I left with (for $150)
It's more than it looks like, the box in the second pic is deep and full of small boxes. Mostly NOS 1940's-1960's parts. So far, everything I've been able to find online has been at least $17 or so. The box in front in the first pic is full of used antique radiator caps, gas caps, lots of floor-mounted dimmer switches, and other odds and ends. I'll get it all laid out after work tomorrow and keep updating this, but I think I did good. Gonna sell it piece by piece on eBay...I've done this before and made a killing. (Edited: Spelling)

Cool find! I bought a ton of old stuff like that about 10 years ago (all for 60's-80's Mopar stuff) and sold pretty much all of it on eBay.

I regret not grabbing all the vintage 80s-90s Mopar MasterTech I found in a Garage Sale years ago. I thought that stuff wasnt worth anything until I ran into someone who was paying through the nose for a filmstrip on how to adjust the timing on a New Yorker.

Wasn't it Nostra-Youppi that grabbed all the service manuals from a closing GM dealer not that long ago? I know where my brother works, they're getting ready to toss out all the hard-copy repair manuals as everything is on computer now. I already have my copies of the L-body Repair Manual on reserve!

The guy I bought that stuff from also had 100+ old haynes and chilton's manuals for $100.

my friend bought em, with all the GM dealers up here closing. Ive been thinking of getting a tech2, my old pontiac dealer is selling KIA's and still selling gm tools off.

Just buy a universal scanner, the Tech2 does about 1/10th of what a $60 Canadian Tire scanner will do. What a horrible piece of diagnostic equipment, I can't believe GM still uses them. It's like a Commodore 64 that's OBD compatible.

I want a Mopar MasterTech DRB-II!

I want a Volkswagen VAS-5065. Actually we have this epic old scantool at VW for Mk2 and Mk3 cars with an LCD screen. It's an aluminum box about the size of a VCR. So outdated, but I love it. Our electronic timing tool is amazing too... a probe goes into the tranny bellhousing, and a red LED digital readout tells you your degrees of advance/retard, and a green LED lights up when the timing is set. Obsolete stuff is fun when it looks like it belongs to the russian space program.

I had one of those old Sun diagnostic things from the 70's once. I ended up giving a kid $10 to haul it off. Now, I wish I kept it just for the kink factor.

I had something like this (older) but with Canadian Tire graphics on it. Same deal, basically ended up smashing it to bits and stuffing it into various cars I was scrapping.

when i bought new key fobs for the Cobalt, my brother had to program them with the tech 2. what would be nice would be resetting the speed limiter on the Beretta.

To test it out, Rick and Cory brung out a Super Beetle and I am not kidding!

Haha, awesome. VWs actually had a diagnostic test port starting in '72. Obviously a pretty basic one but their diagnostic computer could check timing, dwell, misfires and all of the lighting circuits in the car.

you know how hard it is to get my brother to reset the limiter on the Beretta to 200mph? it's disheartening. His reasoning? "You don't need to be going faster than 105 in that goddamn Beretta."

I think the paint would peel off at that speed!
