http://www.washing...AqgKJ1R_story.html VATICAN CITY — Pope Benedict XVI waded deep into U.S. campaign politics Friday, urging visiting U.S. bishops to beef up their teaching about the evils of premarital sex and cohabitation, and denouncing what he called the “powerful” gay marriage lobby in America.
Of course this assumes a) god exists and b) he cares what you do with your dangly bits. There is absolutely no evidence for either of these claims, but why should a lack of evidence stop the pope from discriminating against an entire group of people? What is more dangerous to children: having two dads or a "father" that rapes them?
It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics. Robert A. Heinlen |

I'm so glad I'm not Catholic. More and more I see the Vatican trying to make Catholics' decisions for them, and it's increasingly overprotective.
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |

don't you find it mildly ironic that the same people that are freaking out about a large government telling them what to do are trying to tell people what to do?

It's the Catholic church. Any hope of rational thinking like what you said was abandoned farther back than the Crusades.

Discrimination is as natural as love and hate, and it's really part of both. This is news? Christians have been against gays since the beginning of Christianity, and people were against gays before that. It's funny how the liberals seem to think it's only Christianity that's been keeping the gays down. There will always be deviants in every segment of society, just keep your perversions to yourself and I don't see what all the fuss is about if you're not hurting anyone. We don't need the government to force people to accept someone elses sexual habits. Part of being a grownup is dealing with the knowledge that someone might discriminate against you at some point in your life. Every special interest group these days wants big daddy government to protect them lest they should not be served at some backwoods lunch counter or denied housing where they're not wanted anyway.

Who says they can't? They showed the video for the You Can Play campaign @ the hockey game here last night and it got thunderous applause. What the Burke family is doing is fucking beautiful and if you could step outside your macho-christian persona for a second you would see how wonderful it is. Or you can continue to hate and be miserable, your choice.
You betcha |

yours truly is gay AND has played hockey.

In defense of good christians, not all of them hate gays or have a problem with. Episcopalians have gay and lesbian priest, some methodist are also cool with it. Those are the two largest that are cool with it. That being said, I am not a christian. I support gay marriage and gay rights 100%. I don't see how my aunt and her wife are such a threat to the sanctity of marriage when people like Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears can get married for publicity. Plus 50% of all marriages end in divorce, so its not like straight folks are doing such a great job. But i will say, that I think you can't force a church that finds gay marriage morally wrong to do a gay wedding.

Homosexuality has been accepted, recognized, and often even been part of standard socialization practices in many cultures throughout history, including Africa, Asia, North and South America, and Europe. Homosexual acts have been parts of coming of age rituals for warriors in lots of cultures. You might even want to remember that the "birth of democracy" in Greece was most likely the result of men's cocks in men's asses.

The birth of democracy, which led to the birth of the US. So, in a way, the US is gay. I knew the Founding Fathers wore those wigs for a reason.

every history book ever.

Yeah, its part of pretty much every intro to anthropology. But of course, we're talking about college, which means that it's all gay liberal lies.

Apparently you've never been initiated by a high school football team.
