Ive been trying to set one up with xp home. I think all you have to do is share all the files on it. But then i wouldn't know because im to lazy to try.

File Sharing? Pretty easy stuff to set up, I even think there's a wizard type program to do it in XP - go to network neighborhood, oe network connections, or whatever it is called now, and their should be a option on the side-bar for setting up a home network, run through that and set permissions on whatever you want to be shared, and you should be set.

edit: there's really no reason to use ftp if you just want to share a couple of things between a couple of computers in one location.

You will need to add the network service Microsoft File and Printer Sharing to each pc - should be there by default but might cause problems if you don't. (Right Click My Network Places - Properties - Right-Click LAN connection - Properties - check the service is listed there or "Install" it from the button there.

It's really easy to set it up in an unsecure fashion - Just right-click the folder you want to share and select Sharing - set permissions to "Everyone" "Full ControL" and name it - you should be able to (from other computers) go to Start - Run type in \\computername (where the share lives) - hit enter - that will pull up a list of shared folders there - Right click a folder and "Map network Drive" to assign a local drive letter or just doublclick to open it up.

If you want to restrict access you'll need to get into user level authentication and such - but that's another story.

Why would you use gotomypc? I can see using pcanywhere - but that's kind clunky for file sharing - you really should learn and use windows file sharing.
