One of the shops we work in collaboration with used my car for R&D to look into a competitor for the 034 Downpipes on the 2.7TT. So Bascially I got a cat back and Pre cat delete for about 150 bucks it sounds fast atleast

Funnily, I recently saved about $110 for my Geo not getting the pre-converter thing replaced along with the catalytic converter and muffler at a shop - they put a pipe in instead. It's quieter in the cabin, and sounds all throaty now ^.^

with my 91 Cavalier RS, i had a muffler shop in Dayton TN bend me a new, larger exhaust from the manifold back to the bumper for $100... it had no catalytic converter and a Flowtech Raptor muffler... it sounded awesomely angry and the engine had much more pull through the RPM's.

huge difference with pre cats gutted and resonator and muffler gone. those pre cats are so restrictive.

Posted by team haymaker yeah i wouldnt even consider those tires to be stretched. Good deal on the new exhaust. sometimes I love getting the R&D stuff
You guys dont know much. If the contact area on the tire is less than the width of the wheel, the tires are stretched. Its a retarded trend that makes no sense performance-wise.

If you want that purely mathematical, then his tires are not stretched
215mm = 8.46" which he has mounted on an 8.5" rim

quite incorrect. since the sidewalls are already 'preloaded' you have less sidewall deflection during drifting, making the car more stable
Thats in drifting where drivers look for an easier way to break traction. Stretched tires are horrible for daily and grip driving. Theres a reason the drifters like stretched tires, and its because they break traction earlier than a normally fitted tire.
How is that "quite incorrect"? It must be because everyone is a drifter according to that statement.

this is also wrong. c'mon man, youre around this stuff. these cars are meant to handle the stress of being sideways at extreme speeds. good traction is CRUCIAL in order to keep the car stable and controllable

no, according to your original statement, there was NO performance advantage to it. i merely pointed one out.

I don't know much about Big Dave's crediblities or experience so i'll reserve judgement but I'm fairly certain if a guy is given cars like Caterham's to modify for performance, i'm thinking i'll listen to his opinion. durdan ftw

what's the misinformation? that a drift car is set up to handle excessive speeds sideways? you dont set your drift car up to lose traction, you set it up to handle. you force it to break traction and keep it there. i know bc not only am i builder, but also a driver. c'mon, man. haven't you been around these cars takng pictures?
