| | | I think the problem came after Roddenberry died....TNG had an awesome cast that actually worked with him, and they carried on the legacy. Even though Trek people worked on DS9 and Enterprise, they were without the creator and had license to go away from the exploration and do whatever they wanted. DS9 and Enterprise suffered from having to be "cool" and having to cater to what they thought would gain an audience - basically, more battles, things blowing up, and less classic trek storylines and exploration. I remember watching one ep of Enterprise, where the character was stuck with some alien and he was talking about all these fantastic things he'd recently done on Enterprise. I just thought, wow, those all would have made good episodes. I grew up on DS9. The first 2 seasons were awesome. Then, it just fell apart for the reasons posted above. Voyager got back into the spirit of Trek, but I think the casting really had little chemistry. If there's no chemistry, it makes the show that much harder to believe or watch. TNG and DS9 had the chemistry - Enterprise and Voy, IMO, did not...
