| | | i was attempting to register the ATV i bought on Friday. OK, not a big task, you say... here's the thing, when the Yamaha was purchased new, it was never registered as it was just ridden around a really big farm around Saratoga county. I bought the quad off the second owner who didn't have it long enough to register it... so i had to go to court today, so during recess, I skipped down to the DMV in the basement and talked to the PMS-ing goonsquad behind the bulletproof glass and asked them what could be done? She hands me a sheaf of fucking paperwork. I had to fill four sheets out AND get a rubbing of the VIN off the frame... the quad is 8 years old... the VIN is a memory on the frame. Long story short, i run back to my town, track down the guy i bought the quad from (I hadn't deleted his number from my phone), had him sign the paperwork, get all the way back to the DMV before they close and the asshole behind the counter scrutinizes the VIN with a magnifying class NO SHIT! A fucking MAGNIFYING GLASS! and tells me that the VIN does not match the paperwork and I should try again. so far, at this point, I have racked up 75 miles trying to register this fucking quad just because NY insists INSISTS that they be registered. motherfuckers.

| Okay...so why did you have to go to court?

| | | Posted by Samurai hit the DMV this morning and after running the VIN for the 50th time, it came back that sometime between 2002 and 2010, it had been registered. So now, if i want it registered, i have to go on a fucking quest to find the original owner and get him to find the title... fuck that. the fucking cops can chase me before i fucking jump through anymore hoops/.
| No, you don't have to. You need the following: "If the ATV was never registered or the proofs of ownership are not available, complete form MV-51B (Affidavit of Ownership), and get a bill of sale from the current owner." Direct from the DMV website. Get the affidavit of ownership form and go to the guy you bought the damn thing from. I thought I had to jump through hoops, jeeze. My picks are on their way, thankfully, after two faxes and a phone call. I still wanna figure out how to get that license though, the state doesn't like "self taught" under experience and education. I might end up taking a correspondence course just to get that fixed.
