Ditto. I download all my shows. I can't recall the last time I watched tv with commercials.

I will say I love my swiffer duster clothes (unscented) and use them to clean negatives for scanning. They are so much better than compressed air.

I will also say, stop being so archaic. Stop watching commercials.

Those Uncle Ben's rice-in-a-pouch meals ads where the chick races down the stairs in slacks and a bra, grabs the pouch from the microwave, takes a bite of the food, and does a little shoulder thing to signify her approval of the rice-in-a-pouch flavour are fucking irritating.

Those Uncle Ben's rice-in-a-pouch meals

I sometimes buy some of these BirdsEye frozen vegetable bags where you microwave the whole bag without even opening it up to vent it. Very convenient.

Now when I go to cook the Uncle Ben's rice bags, I forget to vent them before microwaving. After a couple minutes into the cooking cycle, I'll hear this muffled (but still loud) *BOOM* noise and the rotating glass plate inside the micro shaking. Each time the bag blows up and there's rice stuck on the top of the inside of the microwave. I've done it three times now and need to stop doing it.

I like commercials (more/less) because they are the entire reason television exists. You think it's about Survivor or Kitchen Nightmares or CSI or the Superbowl or The Price is Right or The Good Wife or Leave it to Beaver or Sgt. Bilko or Family Ties or To Tell the Truth?

Bullshit...television advertising the the main event, and everything else is window dressing.

So true. If it wasn't for advertising none of those shows (or any really worth a damn) would exist.

That does not mean you have to subject yourself to the commercials, which, by the way, are being replaced with product placement. As someone who watches and enjoys commercials, you might not have noticed the trend.

Actually I noticed it during the various seasons of 24. The vehicles driven in the show each season (for the most part) are all from the same manufacturer. The manufacturers change each season, but it is always one main manufacturer per season. (There are a few exceptions to it, but generally it's true)

Product placement in television and movies is huge business.

Ever watch Holmes on Homes.... they are supported by Dewalt tools, so all other tool logos are blocked out during the show.

that was the same as far back as the 60's and 70's... at the end of the credits, there would be a "Vehicles provided by..."
it kind of went away in the 90's, but is back...

Although that is true shows like 30 Rock will do a full blown ad for products, such as Ciscto systems, in the show.

Product placements are as old as television itself.
