Actually, I was thinking about that - the usable interior space of one of those locos is about 2.3m wide by 11m long which makes a 25m^2 (270 square feet) habitation - and if you'd completely gut it you could make parts bi-level as well... Not too big but in that case I'd rather go for a normal passenger car which is 63 square meter and has bigger headroom - and probably is cheaper and lighter, and thus less costly to transport.
