Not much here anymore from a railfan perspective, sadly. First, CN pulls up their line from Ottawa through North Bay to Capreol (way back in '95, that was....) then CP/OVR decides to stop running the big(ger) freights through North Bay to Smith's Falls.... and with the forestry industry and local mining not doing so well, the ONR seems to be just barely hanging on. ONR has the Northlander both ways daily, plus maybe a freight or two. CP has one freight to Tembec (Temiscaming) and what seems to be one to Sudbury most days, but they're pretty short. And CN has one train to Toronto both ways every day, which often runs at night so it's difficult to catch most of the time. All in all, a sad change from when I was a teenager, living fairly close to the CN and CP tracks, and we'd see many transcontinental trains roll by each day.

Trains are so damn good at light painting themselves.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!
