| | | Posted by Samurai my old boiler was 20x the boiler this Utica is... The downside was that this particular Weil-McClain (Sp?) was from an era that had serious rust issues. It just rotted out. Since we had this fucking boiler installed, it swills oil like its free and doesn't keep the house warm (i have an air leak in my radiator system somewhere)
| Glad I have forced air in my house. I'd be going buggy trying to find where the leak is. Earlier this year our furnace wouldn't kick in properly. I can hear the flame start, then go out and this would repeat two more times. The furnace is a York (Model 88)and it was installed brand new in 1999. First technician (who was the same guy who installed the furnace and was servicing it annually since we first bought the place) looked at it and said he couldn't find anything wrong. Furnace was then working fine after he left. And then, a couple of months later, same old crap! I called and left a message for the guy and he didn't get back to me. I called another tech and he came in. After a thorough cleaning of all burners (especially back burners) and the flame sensor, the furnace is now working beautifully! He told me the back burners and flame sensor were filthy and looked like they hadn't been touched in years. "I've been having the furnace serviced annually. Why would they be like that?" I asked the guy. He shook his head and didn't want to comment. All I can say is that the tech we had servicing our furnace prior to this guy has just lost a long time customer.

| That sucks, but yeah it sure sounds like a crappy flame signal caused by either a crappy flame (dirty burners, air inlet, ect.) or a crappy sensor (dirty or damaged) Should have been an easy fix, should have been clean since you had annual service. You should send him the bill and demand he pay it, good luck with that
