I told my bank that since I have a mortgage and car loan through them that they already get enough fees out of me in interest so stop with the nickel and dimeing me at the checking account stage. Fees of around $15 a month. They said, FU, we'll take fees whether you like it or not. CUNTS!

Did you talk to someone on the phone or go in and speak to the branch manager?

I really, really hate banks. A few weeks ago EZpass decided to bill me a week early and took out $80 from my account. This was a day before my paycheck went in, so I ended up with a balance of -$50. BoA decides to not bother telling me what happened, and allows my card to be used to buy breakfast and gasoline THEN charging me an overdraft fee of $35. Because THAT makes sense. Let's charge someone MORE money for not having ANY money.

I spoke to the branch manager and the received this in the mail, essentially telling me to go fuck myself.

They already make enough profit off me from my car/house loans, credit card interest and what not.

I recently got a savings account with CIBC. I put in $100.00 to start and they took out $3.00 to start. How are you supposed to save? I closed the account.

Samurai's right credit unions are the best way to go. my credit union has profit sharing, so every month the shares i get cover the cost of my business account and its activity.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

I guess you don't want the internet community to know where you bank, but damn I'd really like to know which bank is bending you over the barrel.

I bank with Royal...

They waive the fees because of the following accounts and services I hold with them.

1) RRSP accounts for myself and my wife
2) Premium Credit Card without carrying a balance for more then 5 years
3) Mortgage
4) US Account
5) Chequeing Account
6) Savings Account
7) TFSA
8) Business account (but they do charge me fees on this account)
9) Line of credit in good standing

They have too much to lose with me, so they keep me happy. Find another bank that will treat you properly. Most banks will cover the fees to change the mortgage over to them. If it was Royal screwing you, just dump them. Not every bank is good to every customer, you'll find one that's right for you.

one of the reasons I went with the credit union is because of where I work. It just made more sense.
and it gets me a lot more perks by banking there.

Well, that and 95 percent of the people we work with bank there and the company pretty much started the damn thing 40 some years ago, and they have an ATM in the administration building of the mill, which is free for members to use. Also...you can't forget the overdraft priviledge of up to 1000 dollars per check with only a 20 dollar fee if you screw up your checkbook. Otherwise all checks, debit transactions and transfers between checking and savings and vice versa are all free with the basic checking account and debit card.

Amen to the Credit unions! mine doesn't charge me crap for fees. I have everything I can through them.. except for my car loan and that is shifting in the next 6 months as well.

Hell a few months ago I had some out of norm charges (all legit) but a real person called me that afternoon just to check and make sure everything was ok.... that's top notch customer service right there.

Around here there is a bank that has a program that allows you to 'round-up' every debit card purchase and put the extra into a savings account. How it works is very simple, you make a purchase for $24.60 and the bank rounds it up to a $25.00 purchase. They take the $25.00 out of your account, give $24.60 to the retailer, and put the remaining 0.40 into a savings account for you. It is still your money, you're not making anything extra, they just help you save without noticing a few pennies here and there. Sounds great....

However, if you don't have a banking package that is unlimited, there are two service fees for each debit transaction. You could be paying $1.50 for the savings of 0.40 that is already your money. People with unlimited or high volume flat rate banking packages don't mind, but several people were shocked to discover how much money they were losing with this program. As a retailer, I've also noticed that I pay a premium charge for each transaction processed on one of these cards... they are double-dipping and ripping people off.
