Freakin' awesome! At initial glance, it looks like these fellas are real pros and have dropped quite the penny on these reenactments. :: Jealousy ensues ::

The sky's the limit on what you can spend on this. You can't show up with crap uniforms and equipment either. I have about $5000 in this and I'm a small timer.

If you're interested I just happen to know where you can get a running WWII tank for about $250,000. You really need a lot of money to get into original WWII vehicles, but there are some reproductions available.

You can get a street-legal, European-made, reproduction motorcycle and sidecar for about $10,000 or an off-road-only, Chinese-made, reproduction, motorcycle and sidecar for about $6000. An original motorcycle and sidecar costs about $40,000.

You can get started as a German for about $1500 and a GI for about $2500. The reason for the price disparity is that a good, used GI weapon (M1 Garand) costs about $1500 and a German weapon (K98) costs about $250.

Uh, hate to burst your bubble, but you can easily buy any M44-series vehicles for less than $5k, and if fully restored, you can still find some for under $9k.

The M35 (A1, A2, A2C, etc) model is a nice vehicle if you wanna get started in the MV collecting hobby. For a basic setup that you want to restore yourself, you can get one for around $1000, and for a fully functional one (restored or not) can start at around $4k and up.

Yeah, tanks and rare vehicle models are hard to find and very expensive, but many and most are usually within the $2k-9k range for basic equipment.

Another nice model is the M37-series and the M181-series trucks. Although a tank would ne nice to have as well... no space here tho. lol

Excuse me. I didn't say anything about M44 jeeps or M35 series vehicles. I was speaking specifically about WWII period production.

Please refrain from "bursting my bubble" by putting words in my mouth.

Also...

If it was built after 1945, the authenticity rules won't permit you to use it in a reenactment. Some groups allow post-war vehicles at private tactical events, but NONE will allow post-war or reproduction vehicles public events. Most of the M44 and M35 series vehicles out there are post-WWII production years.

Authenticity is taken very seriously. It's a historic reenactment, not a bunch of guys playing dress-up.

IDK about the tank, but you have a period weapon, that's a big hurdle for GI's.

USe this to find a GI unit in your area:

Okay, cool it. You don't need to react towards me like that. You mentioned vechicles costing thousands of dollars to get into the hobby, and I simply stated that you can still get into the hobby for much less. -- I wasn't talking about WWII or Post-WWII vehicles.

No need to get defensive or chew me out over this. It's friendly discussion and need to share the hobby as an equal common. Okay?
