okay. I have to turn in my research paper tomorrow.

Currently, I can't do my works cited page because every word processor I have used (Word, WordPad, OpenOffice) makes a fucking line break after the dash (-) in a URL. That's not fucking MLA format. When does a dash indicate a line break anyway & if you put the dash wouldn't you already know that you need a line break? wtf.

I would think there would be a way to turn that off in the preferences or something. I don't know, though. I still have a typewriter.

Use latex. It lets you control just about every aspect of typesetting. It may be too late to transition something that is due tomorrow, but in the future it is great for research papers.

OpenOffice....

what happens when you right click on the url and pick "default formatting"?

i use OOo exclusively because i work under both windows and linux. have similar strange formatting issues using oocalc and urls sometimes. usually removing formatting fixes things.

failing everything else, consider using notpad.exe or some other plaintext editor (vim/gedit/notepad2). not quite as pretty, but reliable. sometimes the fact that the word processor is trying to "help" you is the whole problem.

Is that if the URL is really long and doesn't fit on a single line and it breaks it at the dash in the URL? I'm not sure if I'm following correctly. If what I described is the case, try a smaller font size for the URL so that it will fit with out having to break.

The worst is that Clipit motherf*cker paperclip in Word. Die already!

And sometimes you can't change it because Word only installs him, and none of the other lame-ass characters from the CD that you misplaced and need to install the others.

Keep it fuzzy.

Common mistake, right? lol.
