Anyone familiar with "cosmetic" sugery on babies? < on 1/8/2009 2:07 PM > | Reply with Quote
Hey all...
My daughter had a pretty sizable skin tag removed from her neck yesterday (it was so big that it couldn't simply be tied off).
I read online that the swelling/redness is increased in babies due to their delicate skin - but man it looks pretty puffy to this clueless mom. Anyone had experience with something similar to this - injury, stitches, etc? - on an infant??
Calling the doctor when they open, but thought maybe someone knew what was up.

Oh, I haven't had anything done on MY kids before... But I remember my little cousin having a skin tag (fair sized) removed from under his arm. It looked AWFUL. It was SO puffy and nasty looking, but apparently 'that was normal'.
I guess with a fragile little baby, and seeing a few stitches and swelling just weirded me out. I felt horrible for him, but it looked a lot better within a few days.

So what did the doctor say?
The only thing that I had to compare it with is just stitches just above Austin's eye when he was little. I think to that it just looks worse because they are so little and we hate to see anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.
Keep us posted.
A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.
