Metal Detecting Around Durham/Clarington < on 8/22/2007 12:16 PM > | Reply with Quote
Anybody interested in metal detecting around the area? Only catch is you'll need a detector...this hobby sucks if your just watching! I have learned a few tricks of the trade over the years I can share. I think The Source and Canadian Tire sells them...I got mine a few years ago at the former Radio Shack.

I used to go metal detecting with my sister and her husband. We went up to all the old ghost towns north of the Peterborough area. Depot harbour was my favourite spot we hit. I would love to give it a try again(been over twenty five years)I wonder if anyone rents them? I see the signs on the telephone poles outside of town advertising the sale of them but i bet they cost quite a bit for a decent one

I just checked out thesource.ca, and several metal detectors are on sale right now. I wouldnt get the cheapest 50 dollar one, but heck...maybe its a good starter? Mine was around 200-300 a few years ago. I am tempted to buy the higher end one after seeing the sale.
