| | | The McDonald's coffee lawsuit stands in my memory as the first widely publicized lawsuit often attacked as frivolous. However, you must consider this before attacking this woman for suing McDonald's: 1. The coffee served at McDonald's is/was served at 185-195 degrees F. This is just a few degrees shy of boiling, and around twenty degrees hotter than other restaurants. 2. The woman in the lawsuit received second and third degree burns to her thighs, buttocks, and groin. She required skin grafts and a week long hospital stay. The thought of a third degree burn on my cunt makes me a lot angrier than the idea of a frivolous lawsuit. She continued to require treatment a full two years after the initial hospital stay. 3. She stated many times that she wouldn't have sued McDonald's if they'd just covered her hospital bill, but they did not. Her hospital bills were in the $200,000 range. 4. She was awarded 2.9 million dollars. However, like in a lot of lawsuits, a judge later lowered that to $640,000. McDonald's challenged this, and both parties settled out of court for less than $600,000. 5. McDonald's had been receiving complaints for years that their coffee was too hot, with over seven hundred people being injured by it. 6. Though people often say the woman was driving when the incident occurred, she was in the passenger seat of her grandson's car, and her grandson had pulled the car over so she could add cream and sugar to her coffee. The lost pants lawsuit in New York, on the other hand, is completely ridiculous. It's not even about a pair of pants, because the dry cleaners found the pants two days after they misplaced them. It's about some chode judge who needs to get kicked in the shins for the rest of eternity.

| | | Was served summons back in December for an accident that happened in 2007. The other driver was charged and the cop actually complimented my driving. Actual words from the cop "Your driving saved that lady's life tonight." Well, the person suing me was the lady whose life was saved because of my driving. Goes to show that no good deed ever goes unpunished. Among the 12 accusations she made against me, the last four were really insulting. Apparently, I was drunk or stoned at the time of the accident, a very incompetent driver, was not wearing my glasses and I was using my cell phone at the time of the accident. Anyway, I made it very clear via our insurance company that this was all bullshit and that I can prove this in court. I also told our insurance guy that this is a frivolous lawsuit and that the plaintiff's lawyer didn't do their homework. Some humming and hawing from the plaintiff, a suggestion that "we can settle this out of court" (with an almost very rude suggestion as to what they can do with themselves), some more bullshit and finally, she dropped the lawsuit against me and the other driver. Got the papers last night and thankfully, this bullshit matter is closed! Made for a wonderful Christmas with that crap hanging over my head as well as all the other shit. Note the sarcasmGlad it's finally over. The people who launch these stupid lawsuits should get their heads smacked. Too much crap and stress.
