Im installing a PCI video card. Can I install it in any PCI slot? or just after the AGP slot? If It has togo after the AGP slot, can I move my network card or will it screw up windows?

WOW! First off, PCI is dead. Go out and spend the money for a good AGP video card.

Second, the older the NIC, the more likely that it has to be installed in the first PCI slot.

With all that said, go ahead and intall the video card in the next available slot and see what happens. Better yet, get the manual from the manufacturer's website and see what they say.

Any free PCI slot will do.

If you move around hardware, windows should detect it in it's new slut just fine.

Depends on the mobo. David E is right correct, the vid slot is usually #1. Asus gives good manuals that usually show PCI slot configuration. Don't put the Lan, and vid cards on the same interrupt; you may have to experiment for the best placement. Use Device manager to see which device is using what interrupt. Make sure your using the latest mobo bios if applicable, and drivers. You may want to also hard reset the mobo settings; write values down first if you don't know them.

Thanks for the help!

I got it working, just moved the nic down and put in the video.

AGP is dead... PCI-E is the new shit.
Anyways, look at workstation pictures and you'll see why I got a PCI vid card :-p .

Well it's a little hard to get triple working on a single AGP unless of course there is such a thing as an AGP card that allows triple? Someone feel free to correct me on this but I have never heard of this. Even if there was a video card that allows triple, what about quad?

Matrox makes cards for as I recall up to 8 monitors per card.

Matrox has a couple triple head workstation AGP cards. http://www.pricegr...t=44eef1c34a4bd693

Your reaching the limits of that technology. This puppy http://www.tomshar...05/03/23/asus_a8n/ will accommodate 2 PCI Express vid cards giving you outputs for 4 monitors. The Asus A8N-SLI Premium is a sweet mobo.

Anything more than four using AGP or regular PCI will run terrible. Possible, but not fun at all. Having 4 on 2 PCI-E's is really the only way you'll want to go.

AGP is dead (almost). I cringe thinking how sloppy it would be compared to what I consider normal. I've run two off my Asus Radeon X850 XT, an LCD, and a CRT. Have to play with it more as when the smaller resolution LCD is set as the main, my Trinitron image is down-sized. If the Sony's the main all's fine.
