Well, first, that is what I told them BUT keep in mind that the office pays for the equipment and not me. For now, there are only about 8 users on it. When they start complaining, things will probably change.

I think right now the difference between AMD and Intel is nothing more then a mud slinging war. Performance is going to be directly related to hard drive throughput, total ram, ram throughput and a variety of other variables.

I run everything off of my Poweredge server. I only recently moved my webpage from this to proper hosting.

It has the following specs

Poweredge 1400sc
Dual 933 mhz P-III processors
1152 megs of PC-133 ECC RAM
1X 9.1 gig 10k rpm SCSI
2X 36.4 gig 10k rpm SCSI
Windows 2000 Server (Legit)

I used to use this as my server, but I primarily use it for complex CAD and mapping software. I plan on upgrading soon to 73 gig 10k rpm Ultra-320 SCSI disks, and a single channel RAID controller.

That would have been better then my main box as of a couple a weeks ago, but thanks to a forced upgrade, that's no longer the case.

It's not to powerful but it works.

P3 500Mhz
128Mb Ram (i tryed adding some more, i had 2 256Mb sticks. But the mobo can't handle it.)
20Gb HDD (OS Drive)
80Gb HDD (File drive)
20Gb HDD (Web Server Drive)

Windows Server 2003
Apache 1.3
PHP 4
MYSQL 4.1

I use it as a file/print/web server. It works ok right for now but i want to get a better system to use for it, something newer and with a little more storage. Not that i need much i got dail up so i'm not downloading to much. It's sad i got a server form work, but the mobo was trashed. It sucked cause it was a dual p3 733mhz with 1GB Ram, i have the hard drives out of it (4 120G.

Consider popping in a 9$ stick of 128mb ram and slapping Solaris on that and taking it for a run.

By the end of the week I'll have the old router ( P-III 450MHz, 288mb RAM, 4 and 10gig HDDs ) up as a test server... Upgrading the router VMs and moving them to the download computer (after buying 256mb more ram for it)
