This is going to be a long shot but does anyone know if there are any pictures
(interior) of the workhouse when it was abandoned? It was destroyed in 1990/1991. I can't find anything online and I am very curious. I grew up hearing all kinds of stories about it but it was gone by the time I was 5. Looks like it was a fantastic building and another Hannaford creation.

Not, really a lot online. You would probably have to go to the Historical Society library in Union Terminal. I've been there plenty of times and they have always been friendly and helpful.

I can find a bunch from the time it was open but I was interested in seeing it in its last days. My research buddy discovered it was torn down 2 months after it closed so I highly doubt there is much of what I want in existence. Many thanks for your suggestion though. I need to go there and check it out. I'm curious about so much and should narrow it down first!

Sorry for the late reply. I vaguely remember them saving two cells for a museum somewhere. I dont know where, or if they actually set it up.

Other than that, they pretty much closed then demoed it before building a new jail there. I think there were some pictures in the enquirer from before it closed, showing the conditions...
