Abandoned UA City Aicraft Carrier

Hio all. A post here from the genere of the gener of UACity's urban exploration web site.

UA City's pride and joy, the recently retired aircraft carrier is now abandoned. With government cut backs the carrier the carrier is now down on the Greys Dock down in the port and is fully abandoned. With a recent strike by security guards, there was only guards on the dock security guard, so some friends and I decided to see if we could sneak on board. The entry on to the dock was difficult due to lack of places to tie up the boat, but we made it on board.

Once on board we explored the hanger deck which was in the process of being decomisioned. There was still a nice Bell 212 Huey Cobra from a display of US aircraft. The UA Carrier not being a US carrier, it was even more strange to see a lot of US aircraft up on deck. More pictures soon I suppose.

Nice shots, Panic! My head is still sore from when I banged into that low bulkhead. One thing I want to know is... when we were in the lower bays, do you really think those fuel canisters were empty? They sounded full to me...

Yeah, I think they were full. What's his name and I tried to lift one but they were too heavy. Did you check out the dockside munitions display? We were thinking of taking home a souvineer:

Hey Panic - my cuz is interested in siphoning some of that fuel for his jet-ski. Were they standard drums? Or should he bring a torch to open em up?

Man, he's stoked!

Hel, I'm still a little tweaked about not being able to play on the 20mm cannons...you know I love those babies.....*grins evilly* now to find my tool kit so I can unbolt that baby and have some fun

I think it's a shame how old-fashioned and in poor repair the (well, one, anyway - could be others) radar room is. Everything beat up, wires hanging out of cabinets... and what was with the video camera on the bracket, pointed at the radar screen on the far left? Was that the best solution the Navy could come up with to record radar data?

There may well be a newer, better, bigger room full of radar screens onboard; I only found the one on the deck with the leaky pipes with all the buckets in the hallways... I think it was up front on the left-hand side (forward port side?).

Anyone else take one of those coloured "CLASSIFIED" file folders in there?

I particularly enjoyed the reactor area. After overcoming the stress of Wolfman pointing that stinger missile at me, we made our way to the reactor room (wearing full face respirators of course). Remarkably good shape considering the ships age. Bizzy wanted to walk into the reactor core, but we kaiboshed that "plan" The carrier was the highlight of my trip. Krenta hacking into Norad systems from the still powered onboard computers, Wolmfman finding a whole cache of stinger missiles, and the best part also in the ammo lockup, firing an m60 into the bay at all the beer cans we discarded overboard! Ironically, the m60, which I've never fired before, isn't worth a shit for hitting small targets like beer cans, but there was a small cache of Springfield M1 rifles. We found some still operational, and had one hell of a time.

Have to say, after seeing this, I was out of there........... air craft carrier would of been much more non-freaky.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

That was pretty cool sneaking 16 people onto the carrier. We had to do two trips in the zodiac. The paddling at the end was a pain but worth it. You will all be glad to know though there was plenty of cool toys to play with we took nothing but photographs. I'll see if I can get some video online soonish.

Very nice Panic! I have been on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier and that was impressive. Me and my smooth talking Canadian Navy buddy got a cool "unofficial" tour below deck. Only we were allowed on the Constellation.
