| | | I have a pretty good vantage point of the buildings between 10th and 11th on Colorado and have noticed an increase in the police presence over the last week. Since I sit on my balcony alot, it's a pretty easy location to monitor, especially the parking garage on 11th and Colorado, the School of Dentistry behind it, and the Childhood Diabetes unit (attached to the parking garage). Last week I noticed a pretty big hole in the chain link fence by the garage, and based on the increased CU and Denver police presence over the last week, I wasn't the only one to notice it. Last weekend, multiple times, police officers had spotlights on examining the alleyway between the garage and the Dentistry School. The hole has since been fixed, but the police presence is still rather high. If someone on this board is who cut the hole, it seriously isn't necessary. There are plenty of non destructive ways into that group of buildings that don't leave evidence like a cut fence. To any who may be poking around the facility, I would highly recommend staying away from the portion of the campus between 10th and 11th on Colorado. There is still plenty of other spaces to check out, but I would let that area calm down a bit first. Finally, just so everyone is aware, while 99% of the University hospital is closed, there is still a small outpatient dialysis unit open in a red brick building on 11th between Ash and Albion. It is easy to notice since it's the only location with lights still on in the entire campus. There are people there 24 hours a day. This one little location is why CU police are mainly still around. The VA hospital behind University is still very much active (and they have their own federal police). Once the new VA is finished at Colfax and I-225 and the new tower is finished for University, then the VA and University Hospitals will be completely shut down (and way less police presence). At that point it is supposed to get handed off to a developer who will basically turn it into another Belmar type of shopping/living location.
