Asbestosis Anyone?

This was our trip into a asbestos factory. It was interesting trying to get into it because it had three fences enclosing the building , but it was totally worth it. The building had some major water damage, but the graffiti really made the scene on the inside. There was asbestos everywhere and I was amazed that they could leave a building like this open to the environment.

I love all these pics! Are they getting ready to demo it?

But dude, when there might be asbestos, a mask is a good idea.
When your in a factory that made the stuff, at least get a bandanna!

Is that snow or asbestos?

Holy pics batman, that's a lot of photos. Isn't there usually a limit on the number of photos per post?

Either way, love the shots!

In a place as well ventilated as this I wouldn't worry TOO much about asbestos.

The building in picture #49 is being reclaimed. They may be turning them into offices. There used to be a building in the middle but that was demo'ed before I got there. This building I believe is going to be demo'ed too, its just such a health hazard. There is also a 40 foot tall pile of asbestos next to this place so I'm waiting to see what is going to happen with that.

Yeah I had posted pics awhile ago of the other building, I just hadn't gotten to explore this one until now. The other album set is http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 .
The brickwork in the other building is amazing. At least they are going to keep that one.

The pics mid-post were sweet, getting towards the roof mainly. The skeletal feel is just awesome.

You kids and not wearing respirators. Don't make me come down there.

Oh I'm the first one to preach safety, people criticize me for being over protective usually. I usually wear a 3M full face respirator, I just didn't know what I was walking into here.

The walls were pretty much gone/open here so the ventilation helps. I also use mine in case of mold sometimes. I went into a house once with no respirator and the stink of mold was unbearable. By the end of it I was exhausted, nauseous, and had a bad headache...

Your right about them being toilets. It must of been an outhouse from the 1800's, it had no running water, it was just an open pit at the bottom.

Yeah they have. They have torn the entire building down as of 2 weeks ago. Nothing remains other than the big brick building, which they have completely gutted and are currently repointing the brick on the outside of it. I believe they are turning into offices.

Way too many photos. 21 and 24 are cool shots, but they just get totally lost.
