They smelled you coming. You can borrow my "look like I own the place" suit next time.

I wish I owned a white work truck with a utility bed. Park where ever I want, throw down a couple road cones, and be trouble free.Unfortunately I rock a Volvo wagon; its a little harder to pull off.

That place is pretty fun to explore, only been there at night. We saw a huge ass owl also.

Nice work Edsel. The evening light and wide angles make a pretty appealing scene.

Volvo wagons for the win! I have put mine through hell, but it's tough and has made it through every adventure.

I had a great day out here solo, and was very quiet aside from one graffiti artist. It was pretty funny because he actually asked if I was going to call the cops on him.
I was able to hang out here for a few hours, and finally was able to play around with my new fisheye too. I was sad I didn't see any owls though. Here is a few pics, and even a little clown vomit. Enjoy!

Madcap,

Being out of the forum for a bit meant I hadn't seen your awesome shots!

Really digging them man! I had no idea there was photographic evidence that the owl shat on me! haha!

I love how we all have different perspectives that we see the same place through!

Infiltr8

Had some nice shots there in the bunch! I really liked the ones with the bolts, really played on the depth of field there!

I was out here today checking to see if there was any new art. I was out there about an hour. There were about 4 guys painting while I was there.

I was getting ready to leave and decided to check just one last spot when some cops on a loud speaker ordered everyone out of the buildings or they would send in a dog. I crawled out of the spot I was in and found several cop cars waiting for me.

Fortunately I was apparently not that interesting to them. They took one look at me and my gear and asked if I was taking photos and whether I was alone. When I answered yes to both questions I was told I could leave. They told me I looked like a tagger from a distance.

The 4 painters were unfortunately not going to be so lucky. I didn't hang around but they hadn't appeared when I left. The cops knew how many people were in there so it seems like someone had the place under watch.

I guess I'm not going back again. Too bad because I always get interesting photos there.

I've heard from numerous people of getting asked to leave by police at this spot -- particularly in the last two months or so. Everyone has told me they were just given verbal warnings (all just photographers/explorers) but it defintely seems like a sketchy spot right now, especially since the walk in is so open.
Last time I went was about two months ago actually and we had zero problems and didn't see anyone else out there (it was a weekend too) but I think we just really lucky.
Wonder what sparked the sudden splurge in security?

Were you able to catch the new Swampy out there before you got kicked out?

Yes. I posted a note about my experience on my Flickr account and got lots of responses about people having similar experiences... names taken, warnings given. I haven't heard of anyone getting cited yet but you have to wonder how patient they will be. It seems perfectly reasonable that they could start doing that.

I wonder if the cops have added that property to their regular rounds or whether the owner has been watching and calling them in each time.

Yes! I had just shot it and was in the little room next to it shooting some interesting stuff when the booming voice on the loud speaker disturbed my visit.
